1. The 12th of August Ambush Marker
Inscription. Sheriff Pusser stopped his car here at this site, trying to check his wife’s injuries, the assailant’s car came back into sight and started firing into the sheriff’s car again. Mrs. Pusser was shot in the head this time and died. Sheriff Pusser was shot in the face suffering severe bone and tissue damage, after spending 18 days in a Memphis hospital, he returned to his position as full time sheriff of McNairy County.
 
Erected 2021 by McNairy County Historical Society and McNairy County Tourism.
