This Corps marched from Burnsville Miss., April 4, 1862, via Monterey and Mickeys, and bivouacked Saturday night, April 5th, along the Bark Road in rear of Gen. Johnstons headquarters, its head of column where this tablet stands.
The Corps advanced Sunday morning, April 6, 1862, the 1st Brigade forward on the Pittsburg Road: the others by the Bark Road to reinforce the right. The 2d and 3d Brigades, under the Corps commander became engaged about 12 P.M., south of the Peach Orchard and followed the movement of the right of the Army during the afternoon.
On Monday, April 7, 1862, Gen. Breckinridge was in command of the right center.
The Reserve Corps had present for duty, officers and men, 7,211.
Its loss was, 386 Killed; 1,682 Wounded; 165 Missing; Total 2,233.
