Sullivan's Island in Charleston County, South Carolina — The American South (South Atlantic)
Communications
Hitting a moving target eight miles at sea required a sequence of fast and accurate communications from observation posts to plotting room, to battery commander, and to the gun pointers.
Telephones located in the armored recess to the left made all this possible. In addition, there were backup speaking tubes to the right.
Erected by National Park Service / United States Department of the Interior.
