Nederlands politica en het eerste vrouwelijke Tweede Kamerlid in Nederland. Als onderwijzeres in Rotterdam was ze een vurig pleitbezorger van volksonderwijs. Ze was feministe, maar een tegenstander van aparte vrouwenorganisaties. Groeneweg was bestuurslid van de SDAP toen bij de grondwetsherziening van 1917, behalve het algemeen kiesrecht voor mannen, ook het passief vrouwenkiesrecht werd ingevoerd. Toen in 1918 de eerste verkiezingen onder het nieuwe systeem werden gehouden, werd zij kandidaat gesteld en ver- kozen. Ze zat tot 1937 in het parlement.
Haar verkiezing werd destijds als een grote stap voor het feminisme gezien

Dutch politician and the first female member of the House of Representatives in the Netherlands. As a primary school teacher in Rotterdam, she was a fervent advocate of popular education. She was a feminist, but opposed to separate women's organizations. Groeneweg was a board member of the SDAP when, in the constitutional revision of 1917, in addition to universal male suffrage, passive female suffrage was also introduced. When the first elections under the new system were held in 1918, she was nominated and elected. She sat in parliament until 1937.
Her election was seen at that time as a big step for women.

On her election: Groeneweg was a member of the central committee of the social democratic party, SDAP, in 1917, when partial woman suffrage was introduced: women could be voted into office, but not vote themselves. In 1918, when the first elections after women's suffrage was held, she was elected to parliament as the first woman and sat in the chamber alongside 99 men.(Submitted on May 23, 2023.)
As of 1 January 1920, women in the Netherlands got the right to actively vote as well (which right they could first use at the 1922 elections). Suze Groeneweg was re-elected the same year, and six other women joined her in the house of representatives.
