1. Victory Park Marker
Inscription. In 1919 a group of public-spirited citizens envisioned Victory Park as a memorial to WWI veterans. The existing park known as Kern's Grove included a ball field and woodlands. The community-funded park was dedicated on July 4, 1921 during a day long festival. The park was used extensively for picnics, dances, big band concerts and family reunions. Roller-skating took place in an open-air covered pavilion, which was destroyed by fire in the late 1960's. Slatington's football and baseball teams played here until the dedication of Alumni Field in 1962. The community swimming pool was opened in 1963.
