Dochter van de toneelspeler en toneeldichter Adriaan van den Bergh, die met een reizend gezelschap door Europa trok. Zij was de eerste beroeps-toneelspeelster bij de Amsterdamse Schouwburg en maakte haar debuut in 1655 in het treurspel 'Onvergetelijke Ariana'. Tot haar komst werden de vrouwenrollen op het toneel meestal door mannen - in travestie - gespeeld.

(English translation:)

Daughter of the actor and play poet Adriaan van den Bergh, who traveled through Europe with a traveling company. She was the first professional stage actress at the Amsterdamse Schouwburg and made her debut in 1655 in the tragedy 'Unforgettable Ariana'. Until her arrival, women's roles on stage were usually played by men - in cross-dressing.
