1. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Marker
Inscription. Paul Lauterbur was a pioneer in the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to visualize molecules, solutions and solids. He was the first researcher to produce an image with NMR. His work led to the development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), one of the most significant medical diagnostic discoveries of the 20th century. Lauterbur was awarded the 2003 Nobel prize in physiology or medicine.
