1. Brown-Beard Cemetery Marker
Inscription.
Brown-Beard Cemetery. . Begun in the Big Creek Settlement area as the Pentecost Graveyard, this cemetery dates to at least 1841 with the burial of George S. Pentecost, an "Old 300" colonist. Also buried here are six of his children and their spouses, including son-in-law Samuel Pharr, an "Old 300" colonist on whose 1831 land grant the cemetery is located. Texas Revolution veterans George W. Pentecost and Andrew J. Beard, another son-in-law, and several Confederate veterans are buried here. Descendants of Beard married into the A.J. Brown family, thus giving the cemetery its present name.

Location. 29° 24.214′ N, 95° 38.4′ W. Marker is near Needville, Texas, in Fort Bend County. It is in Brazos Bend Oaks. Marker can be reached from C.W. Cummings Road, 0.8 miles east of Farm to Market Road 762. The cemetery and marker are on private property along a private dirt road in a cow pasture. Owner permission and assistance is required to access this cemetery as it is at least a quarter mile deep into private

Must get property owner permission and assistance to pass through gates to get to this location. The gates require codes. Fencing and gates keep livestock from escaping and roaming. A fence surrounds the cemetery as well.

Giant oaks in the cemetery shade the gravestones. The property owners mow and maintain the cemetery. Access to the cemetery requires property owner permission and assistance to travel through a series of locked cattle gates.
