Rubicon Township in Port Hope in Huron County, Michigan — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Old School House Bell Tower Roof
In 1872, the citizens of Port Hope constructed a new two storied school building on the corner of School and Second Streets. In 1927, the school building was torn down, saving the bell tower roof. For many years the old tower roof remained on a concession stand at Stafford Park. In 1994, the Village of Port Hope constructed this garden house in order to retain this once significant bit of local history.
The trees and shrubs planted in this park are in honor of former citizens of Port Hope.
