Booker Taliaferro Washington visited the Mission Inn as a guest of Frank Miller in 1914. In 2004, the Black Voice News & Foundation, Inc. spearheaded a community drive and commissioned M. Bernard Edmonds to sculpt a bust of him to celebrate the 90th anniversary of his historic visit.
