Millions of Other Victims
At the core of the Nazi ideology was a deadly vision of a racially pure society; a vicious form of population planning that eliminated any individual not fitting its narrow definition of perfection. Six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis, but they also targeted other groups because of their perceived racial inferiority: Romanies, Poles, and Soviet prisoners of war, among others. Other groups were persecuted on political, ideological, and behavioral grounds, such as communists, socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses, the disabled, and homosexuals.
