Helena and Stefan belonged to the Polish underground and were committed to fight the Germans in any possible way. During three long years until liberation in 1945, Helena, her brother Stefan, and their mother Agnieszka hid four Jews behind a wall in their room two apartment which they shared with a German officer of the occupying army.
