Inscription.

spallette in cotto parzialmente conservata.

The Palladian Basilica archaeological site
Recent restoration work on the Eastern side of the Palladian Basilica, within the Corte dei Bissari, brought to the discovery of a portion of the cardo, a north-south road, beneath the Medieval stratigraphy. The existence of this ancient road, which connects the current piazza dei Signori and piazza delle Erbe, had been hypothesized, but its precise route remained unknown. The pavement next to the road of which a few slabs of trachyte have been conserved, was anked by the faηade of a noble Roman house. Anchored to this was a more recent residence, dating from the 3rd-4th century AD. This continuity in the construction of high-end residences confirms interest in the area next to ancient Vicetia's forum. The flooring in some spaces of the domus, which can be dated to the 1st century AD., is composed of black monochrome mosaics.

A few traces remain conserved in the cocciopesto (lime mortar) subfloor. The entire building features infrastructure for water drainage and control, as shown by a partially conserved terracotta channel. The Roman building was constructed on the site of ancient pre-Roman residences, which were built of non-durable materials with clay flooring that shows traces of hearths, a testament to ancient life in the heart of the city, from the times of the ancient people of the region.
