1. Lobster Car Marker
Inscription. Lobstermen and dealers kept lobsters alive in floating wooden crates called "cars" to await either being sent to market or sold at the right time for better prices. This car is a reproduction of the large one used by dealers around 1890. As many as 1,000 lobsters could be kept alive in a car of this size. Cars used by lobstermen were of similar construction but smaller.
