4. Mary Parke Foster and Daughter
Mary Parke Foster (left) served as the DAR's President General in 1895-96, declining a second term so her predecessor could serve again. Her daughter Eleanor (right) married Robert Lansing, who was U.S. Secretary of State in 1915-20. Another daughter, Edith, and her husband Allen Macy Dulles had a son, John Foster Dulles, who was Secretary of State in 1953-59.
