1. The Bogart Dairy Marker
Inscription. On this site stood the first dairy barn owned by William Henry Bogart (1889 - 1956), an early-day Northeast Tarrant County dairy leader. The barn was built on the original 158 acre Bogart "Old Home Place" which was purchased by William H. Bogart's father, Aiken Bogart in 1908.

William H. Bogart married Effie Rutledge (1887 - 1969) of Grapevine in 1917. They built a house next to the home of William's parents, Aiken and Lucy Bogart. William began accumulating more land and Jersey cattle. He imported a Jersey bull from the Isle of Jersey. In 1924, the Jersey bull was named Grand Champion at the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show.

During the 1920's Mr. Bogart became active in the Texas and American Jersey Cattle Clubs, advocating improved dairy practices and wholesome milk for consumers. By 1929, the Bogarts owned about 800 Jerseys, and operated four farms. They also owned the Golden Gate Dairy bottling plant on East Belknap Street in Fort Worth. With the help of Texas A&M Extension Dairy Specialist E.R. Eudaly, Mr. Bogart encouraged local farm families to enter the dairy business. This helped many area residents through the Great Depression of the early 1930's.

In 1935, the Fort Worth Press, a leading area newspaper, named the Northeast Tarrant County Pleasant Run-Bransford communities as the "Dairy Center of Tarrant
