1. Dade and his Command Marker
Maj. Dade and most of his command are buried in St. Augustine National Cemetery. Another memorial to Dade is located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Inscription.
To commemorate
the Battle of the 28th, Dec.
1835
between a detachment of
108 U.S. Troops
and
the Seminole Indians
of Florida,
in which
all of the detachment
save three
fell without an attempt
to retreat.

This memorial honors Brevet Major Francis Langhorne Dade and his command who were massacred by Seminole Indians on a march to Fort King, Florida in 1835.
