At 5 rue de l'Epée de Bois lived and died Sister Rosalie Rendu (1786-1856), a Daughter of Charity.
To meet the many needs she perceived here in the Mouffetard district - she successively opened a dispensary, a school, an orphanage, a child care center, a patronage for young people, and a home for destitute old people.
She was beatified by Pope Jean Paul II on November 9, 2003.
