2. Wood Monument Marker (Right & Rear)
Lt. Col. Eleazor Wood (USMA 1806) was killed in the War of 1812. Fort Wood , a star shaped fort on Liberty Island which serves as the base of the Statue of Liberty, was named after Col. Wood.

3. Wood Monument
This monument was originally located about ½ mile south on a knoll near Trophy Point and was used by river boat captains as a guide when navigating the bend in the Hudson River.
