The Carriage Manufactory
1852
Originally built in 1852 as a gristmill on the Mahoning River in Columbiana County, OH, this barn has since been restored to look as it would have had it been converted to a vertical carriage manufactury in the 1800s.
Specialty factories would focus on producing one piece or part of a carriage at a time, while a vertically integrated factory such as this Carriage Manufactory would put all of the pieces together to produce the final carriage.
