1. Boat Skids Marker

Inscription. These boat skids held the ship's utility boats. These small boats, roughly 20 to 25 feet in length, were used for general work such as transporting mail, supplies, and crew to and from the shore, or conveying agents from shore to ship, or the captain ashore in order to conduct the ship's business. You can see a replica of Wavertree's original boat in the 'tweendecks below.
