Rione X Campitelli in Roma in Città metropolitana di Roma Capitale, Latium, Rome, Italy — Central Italy (Tyrrhenian Coast)
Podio di un Tempio / Podium of a Temple
At the corner of the "Clivus Palatinus" and the Sacra Via, near the Arch of Titus, is the podium of a temple made of concrete and stone blocks, most of which have been removed. It was probably built in the Flavian period (AD 69-96) since its position and orientation follow that of the urban reorganization after the fire of AD 64. The identification of the temple, long believed to be that of Jupiter Stator, is still uncertain. After demolition, the podium was reused for a later structure, perhaps a medieval tower.
