Inscription.  
1910 - City of Los Angeles water system purchases land for reservoir in Ascot Hills.

1915 - City of Los Angeles water system completes earth dam for Ascot Hills Reservoir.

1926 - Ascot reservoir is built.
El Sereno, then called Baird's Town, is annexed to city of Los Angeles to assure water for a growing population.

1935 - Metropolitan Water District of Southern California constructs pipelines to deliver water from its Colorado Aqueduct, including a large diameter (51") pipeline that traverses the park enroute to a reservoir in the Palos Verdes hills.

1941 - Seven acres of roofing was construted to insure the purity of water supply.
The reservoir is 1,000 feet in length and 400 feet in width.

1980's - Ascot Hills Reservoir earth dam is taken out of service as it does not meet earthquake safety standards.
