Rione X Campitelli in Roma in Città metropolitana di Roma Capitale, Latium, Rome, Italy — Central Italy (Tyrrhenian Coast)
Uccelliere / Aviary
The stairs flanking the Teatro del Fontanone lead up to two pavilions placed at the top of this complex theatrical composition of terraces starting from the original entrance to the Gardens. Originally used as an aviary, these rooms had a light roof in copper netting with an exotic profile, arched windows on several sides and graffiti on the outer walls. They were later used as storerooms and then became the residence of P. Rosa, the archaeologist who directed the excavations on behalf of Napoleon III from 1861 to 1870.
