EDITH WHARTON
Romancière américaine
1862 - 1937
“My years of Paris life were spent entirely in the rue de Varenne - rich years, crowded and happy years. “
In this building from 1910 to 1920 lived the American novelist Edith Wharton (1862-1937). She was the first writer from the United States to emigrate to France, out of love for this country and its literature.
“My years of Paris life were spent entirely in the rue de Varenne - rich years, crowded and happy years. “
“The years of my Parisian life, I spent them entirely in the rue de Varenne - fruitful, busy years, happy years."
Similar to Henry James, Edith Wharton's work depicts, with a delicate yet biting touch, the high society from which she came.
