1. Park History Marker
Inscription. The Pearl Street gate was designed by Olmsted Brothers Landscape Architects and added to the Park in the 1940s. The path Leads from the gateway to the Corning Fountain. Donated by John J. Corning in 1898, the fountain was installed in 1899 to honor his father John B. Corning, a local businessman and civic leader. The Fountain resides on the land of Corning's ancestors, a place once known as Allyn's Island, having been in the middle of the Park River.
