Inscription. Jacob Weidenmann's design of the Park utilized many of Frederick Law Olmsted's techniques, including curvilinear paths and the separation of uses. His design incorporated pedestrian use in the eastern section. Through the design of a carriage path in the western section, Weidenmann also allowed for horseback riding. In 1865, a stone terrace overlook was designed by Weidenmann and located atop the hill now in front of the State Capitol. The terrace was removed in the 1940s as part of the river relocation plan.
