In grateful memory
of
★ General ★ Lafayette ★
whose love of liberty brought him to American shores and dedicate his life and fortune to the cause of the colonies, the Sabra Trumbull Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution erected this monument near the Old King Tavern where he was entertained in 1824.
