Regarding Tampico Soldiers Monument. According to newspaper accounts at the time, the monument was unveiled on Sept 7, 1907 before a crowd of more than 1,000 people. The roughly 24-foot-tall monument cost $782.42, with the money raised through donations after town voters overwhelmingly approved the monument and spending $500 on associated park improvements.
