Inscription.
The 452 Amherst Street (Route 101A) property housed a 40-acre farm containing two of the last early nineteenth and late eighteenth century homes remaining in northwest Nashua. The area was always bustling with commerce as various connecting roads carried people to and from major commercial centers. Route 101A connected Amherst and Boston by way of Nashua. The New Hampshire seacoast was linked to the area via Thornton's Ferry crossing the Merrimack River at Merrimack where the road turns into West Thornton Road, the Thornton Road then crossing west of this location to Hollis and beyond. The final chapter of these old homes housed a historic restaurant and tavern. The owners utilized the original architectural features to create a unique one of a kind atmosphere. Lush green landscaping surrounding the property is all that now remains of what was a small historic neighborhood.
