Inscription.
Bears have fascinated and inspired humans since our ancient ancestors first explored the wild world around them and gazed at the skies above.

They connect us deeply with the natural world around us.

Inspired by the rising sun, Sun bears get their name from the golden patches of fur on their chests.

Like sunrises, no two golden "sun" patches are exactly alike.

Moon bears-better known as Asiatic Black bears, get their name from their crescent moon-shaped patches of white fur across their chests.

Not surprisingly, both species inspire folklore and origin stories among many indigenous peoples.

The story of bears is even written in the stars.

Ancient cultures gazed at the heavens and beheld the forms of humans and creatures among the constellations.

Ursa Major, The Great Bear, and Ursa Minor, The Lesser Bear or The Little Bear are constellations found in the northern sky.

While the mythology of these constellations extends back to prehistory, their associated folklore has been in existence since the 2nd century AD up to the present day.

The Great Bear" is considered a symbol of the north across world cultures and the constellation is even depicted in the 21st century, on the Alaska State Flag!
