1. Plaquette H.F. Westerveld (Wikipedia, in Dutch). Westerveld combined sextonship with a job as a contractor/carpenter. He lived with his family on the Tesselschadestraat, near the church. Westerveld was honored for his resistance activities with the Cross of Merit and the King's Medal for Courage in the Cause of Freedom. He was posthumously awarded the Resistance Memorial Cross and the American Legion of Honor Award. A daughter and a son also did resistance work.
2. Plaque H.F. Westerveld (Traces of War, English version).
Providing a bit more information on the O.D.: The O.D. was an illegal organisation during the Second World War and had it's goal to protect the peace after the defeat of the German occupiers. The members of this organisation consisted of military personal of the defeated Dutch Army. Nevertheless the O.D. was during the occupation involved in resistance actions against the Germans. During the war more than hundred members were caught and executed.(Submitted on August 18, 2023.)
