Inscription.  Il punto di vista estremamente ravvicinato e prossimo al monumento rende la veduta del Tempio di Antonino e Faustina una delle più suggestive acqueforti dedicate da Piranesi a Foro Romano. Si tratta infatti di una delle sue più riuscite fusioni tra descrizione precisa e analitica del monumento e presentazione di forte impatto estetico ed emotivo, grazie alla scelta di uno scorcio e di una soluzione prospettica capaci di porre lo spettatore al centro della scena, raffigurata. Qui si insediò nel VII secolo una chiesa collegiata dedicata a S. Lorenzo, conosciuta poi come de Miranda. Nel 1429 papa Martino V soppresse la collegiata e assegnò l'area del tempio all'Universitas Aromatariorum Urbis, ossia il Collegio dei Farmacisti (o Speziali) romani.

The extremely close vantage point makes this view of the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina one of the most evocative etchings dedicated by Piranesi to the Roman Forum. It can be considered one of his most successful fusions of precise, analytical description and strikingly aesthetic, emotional presentation, thanks to the use of foreshortening and a perspective

solution that places the viewer at the center of the scene. In the 7th century, a collegial church was established here dedicated to St. Lawrence, later known as de Miranda. In 1429, Pope Martin V suppressed the college and gave the area of the temple to the Universitas Aromatariorum Urbis, the Roman College of Chemists and Herbalists.
