First athlete in UCLA history to letter in four sports in the same year: baseball, football, basketball and track.
Charter member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame - 1984.

Brooklyn Dodgers 1947 - 1956:
First African American to play in the major leagues - 1947.
National league Rookie of the Year - 1947.
National league Most Valuable Player - 1949.
National league batting title with a batting average of 342 - 1949.
6-time all star.
41st Spingarn medalist - 1956.
Inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame - 1962.
Jackie Robinson's #42 was retired at a ceremony he attended at Dodger Stadium - 1972.
Presidential Medal of Freedom - 1984.
Major League Baseball retired #42 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's breaking the baseball color-line - 1997.
Jackie Robinson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his achievements in sports, civil rights and business - 2003.
