Inscription.  In questa veduta di grande profondità, realizzata da Piranesi nel 1756, spiccano in primo piano i resti dell'angoio nord-est del colonnato del pronao del Tempio di Vespasiano e Tito, confusi all'epoca ancora con il Tempio di Giove Tonante citato da Svetonio e Plinio il Vecchio, edificio a tutt'oggi però non identificato né correttamente localizzato. I resti del tempio, iniziato da Tito e completato da Domiziano dopo l'81 d.C., sono raffigurati ancora abbondantemente interrati, con i fusti delle colonne nascosti per i due terzi della loro altezza, così come rimasero fino allo scavo realizzato da Giuseppe Valadier nel 1811.

English:
In this view of considerable depth, created by Piranesi in 1756, the foreground is dominated by the remains of the north-eastern corner of the colonnade of the porch of the Temple of Vespasian and Titus, confused in Piranesi's time with the Temple of Jupiter Tonans mentioned by Suetonius and Pliny the Elder which, to this day, has yet to be properly identified and located. The remains of the temple, commissioned by Titus and completed by Domitian after 81 AD, are depicted still

largely buried under the earth, with only a third of the column shafts' total height visible aboveground. The temple would remain in this condition until the excavation conducted by Giuseppe Valadier in 1811.
