Rione X Campitelli in Roma in Città metropolitana di Roma Capitale, Latium, Rome, Italy — Central Italy (Tyrrhenian Coast)
Portico Degli dei Consenti / Portico of the Harmonious Gods
Reconstructed in the mid 19th century with ancient materials recovered from excavations, the portico has an unusual shape: it consists of twelve columns with the same number of rooms behind them (only seven survive), each dedicated to one of the Olympian gods. The building already existed in the 1st century BC but was rearranged several times: the remains visible today date to the late 1st century AD, though the inscription records works undertaken by the Prefect of Rome Vettius Agorius Pretestatus, one of the last opponents of Christianity who lived in the 4th century AD.
