Cooper Shop
Barrels, kegs, tubs, buckets, and other types of wooden containers were made by coopers in workshops similar to this. For storing and transporting bulk goods, both wet and dry, the cooper's wares were in widespread use on a farm, in the home, in the factory, in trade and commerce. To supply the thousands of kegs and barrels needed annually for shipping gun powder, the Du Pont Company employed a staff of coopers in several shops close to the powder yards.
