Connellsville
Volunteers Make the Trail
■From this point to the city limits of Pittsburgh, the trail is owned and managed by a partnership of the Regional Trail Corporation and several member trail councils. This non-profit organization was chartered in 1991 to purchase the abandoned Pittsburgh and Lake Erie rail line to convert it to a trail. Since then, more trail chapters have been added to build other trails in Fayette, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties. ■Here in Fayette County, the Yough River Trail Council is your host. Members mow grass, remove fallen trees, serve as trail ambassadors, raise money, and generally care for the trail. It's their pleasure to work and provide this outstanding recreational resource at no charge.
Volunteers are the backbone of the Great Allegheny Passage, and the trail councils invite you to participate.
Donations of time, money, and good spirit are encouraged. For more information on joining, please visit GAPtrail.org.
