1. City Cemetery Marker
Inscription. Raleigh's first public burying ground. In 1798 the General Assembly authorized the city commissioners to lay off up to four acres of public land adjoining the city for this purpose. Additional land added later. Many of Raleigh's earliest citizens interned here. Cemetery maintained by the City of Raleigh.
