1. Emmanuel Rodrigues da Rocha Marker
Emmanuel Rodrigues da Rocha, autor desta quadra, nasceu em Matosinhos em 1927. Frequentou o Conservatório de Música do Porto e, aliado à sua vida profissional ligada à indústria conserveira e metalurgia, deu aulas de piano e acordeão. Desde muito novo, e embora Matosinhense, tinha uma paixão enorme pela"sua" Leça da Palmeira, onde se inspirava ao apreciar o pôr-do-sol junto ao Farol da Boa Nova. Era aqui que escrevia a maioria dos seus poemas, vános publicados em revistas e jomais. Faleceu prematuramente em 1977.
No final da década de 50, Emmanuel Rodrigues da Rocha participou num concurso literario do Jornal Diário do Norte e esta quadra foi eleita a que melhor descrevia Leça da Palmeira.
Uma réplica deste painel de azulejos foi colocada na parede junto às escadas de acesso à Praia de Leça, na década de 50.
A União das Freguesias de Matosinhos e Leça da Palmeira decidiu promover a recriação desse painel junto à Praia de Leça com o Farol da Boa Nova no horizonte, homenageando o autor e preservando, assim, um pouco da História de Leça da Palmeira.

Emmanuel Rodrigues da Rocha, author of this four-line verse, was born in Matosinhos in 1927. He attended the Music Conservatory of Porto and aside to his career, in the fields of the canned fish industry and metallurgy, he gave piano and accordion lessons. Since an early age, and despite having been born in Matosinhos, he had a big passion for “His” Leça. By Boa Nova Lighthouse overlooking Leça's dazzing unique sunsets he felt the inspiration to write. That was the spot where he wrote most of his poems published in several magazines and newspapers. He passed away in 1977.
In the late 50's, Emmanuel Rodrigues da Rocha took part in a literary competition, promoted by the newspaper "Diário do Norte" and this four-line verse was selected as the best one describing Leça da Palmeira.
In the 50's, a replica of this the panel was placed on the stairs wall that give access to Leça's Beach.
Matosinhos-Leça da Palmeira Town Hall decided to replicate that tile panel by the beach having the Boa Nova Lighthouse in the horizon, paying tribute to the author and therefore preserving a little piece of Leça da Palmeira history.
