1. West Union Friends Meeting Marker
Inscription. The West Union Friends Meeting was established in 1832 by Quakers from North Carolina. It was the first church and school in Monrovia which was established in 1834 by Quakers Gideon Johnson and George Hubbard. Members of the West Union Friends Meeting were also thought to have participated in the Underground Railroad due to their opposition to the institution of slavery.
