Regarding Pierre Ducasse.
Among his most notorious works as a municipal gardener was the project of the romantic garden of the Plaza de Gipuzkoa in San Sebastiαn in 1877, which he carried out together with the architect Josι Goicoa. The square was still bare. It had been used as a place of concentration of troops during the 2nd Carlist War. Pierre designed the garden and presented a list with a dozen exotic tree species: paulonia, caki, Virginia tulip, golden ash, American walnut, ally, liquidambar, catalpa... and 3500 shrubs. Seeing the difficulties in obtaining garden plants, Ducasse himself acquired land in Ategorrieta to build his villa and his own nurseries inaugurating in 1878 the "establishment of Horticulture and Floral Ornamentation, Villa Marνa Luisa.
