Inscription.  
The 155-mm C1 Howitzer was a Canadian version of the American M1A1 Howitzer. Sorel Industries Limited in Sorel, Québec, manufactured 180 of them under licence for Canada and other NATO countries starting in 1953. It was the largest weapon ever manufactured in Canada, and fired a 42 kilogram shell to a maximum range of 14,600 metres. The C1 Howitzer was in active service with the Royal Canadian Artillery from 1955 until 1968, and remained in reserve for many years.

L'obusier C1 de 155 mm était une version canadienne de l'obusier américain M1A1. À compter de 1953 « Sorel Industries Limited », située à Sorel (Québec), en a fabriqué 180 sous licence pour le Canada et autres pays de l'OTAN. C'était la plus grande arme jamais fabriquée au Canada, elle tirait un obus de 42 kg avec une portée maximale de 14 600 m. L'obusier C1 a été en service actif au sein de l'Artillerie royale canadienne de 1955 à 1968 et est resté en réserve pendant de nombreuses années.
