Shorty McDonald Playground. . This park has been given to the children of Winner by George C. "Shorty" McDonald. He left two-fifths of his estate ($8,000) to the community to build a park for the children. McDonald was 68 years old when he died Jan. 1948. He was orphaned in Chicago at the age of 7 and drifted to the Rosebud Country in his early teens. As he grew older he became a ranch cook and finally started his hamburger business, first at White River, then Colome, and finally Winner. Shorty's advertising slogan was: "10˘ to see Shorty, your hamburger free." , "Give them a place to play" were the words Shorty used in his will. , And so, to you the children of Winner, this playground is dedicated.
