1. 2106 E. Broad Street Marker
Inscription. This Italianate frame house was constructed in 1886. The Eastlake-style three-bay porch features turned and scroll sawn ornamentation and a handsome balustrade. Other notable features are the double entrance doors, tall first-floor windows and a cornice with brackets and a dentil course. The first occupant was Holcombe S. Ackerly, publisher. He was the editor of Every Saturday. Other residents include, John W. Ackerly, printer, Edgar B. Tucker, clerk, Charles Mason, clerk with C & O Railroad and William A. Mason, bookkeeper. This house is listed as a contributing structure to the St. John's Church Historic District on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
