1. Windstorm of December 2006 Marker
Inscription. The violent windstorm of December 2006 severely damaged more than 10% of the Stanley Park forest, downing over 10,000 trees as well as damaging the Prospect Point escarpment and the seawall below. The public response was an outpouring of financial and in kind support from individuals, companies and senior governments to underwrite the costs of restoring Stanley Park. The restoration has been an intensive two year process which would not have happened without donations from those who care about Stanley Park. This site represents a thank you to all those who responded to the disaster in such a generous fashion.
