Inscription. Dr. E.C. Ekermeyer saw a similar house during his visit to the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. Soon plans were ordered for this Queen Anne-styled structure that would house the doctor's family and office. Construction materials were shipped by rail, a highly unusual method for the era. The building remains the only one of its kind in New Bremen. In 1924, his son, Dr. Carl W. Ekermeyer, began practicing medicine here.
