Rosehill Cemetery
1840

Welcome to Rose Hill Cemetery
Rose Hill Cemetery is one of the earliest surviving public landscaped cemeteries in the Southeast. The city first conceived of this cemetery in 1840 while considering plans to replace the Old City Cemetery located at the corner of Seventh and Cherry Streets. Rose Hill was conscientiously designed to function as both a cemetery and a public park. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. This map is marked with a selection of notable locations to visit. Rose Hill Cemetery is best explored at a strolling pace.

Rose Hill Rambles
The Rambles have their beginnings as guided walking tours through the cemetery. Each year, crowds of curious people gather to learn about Macon's past, the people laid to rest in Rose Hill, and their impact on the region. Today you can hear those same stories with self-guide video tours. Just look for the Rose Hill Ramble marker and scan the code.
