Palace of King Guezo
Le Roi Guezo (1818-1858) est considéré comme un grand réformateur. Il réorganisa les structures de l'Etat et de l'armée, travailla à l'unification du Royaume, et développa surtout la production d'huile de palme dans le contexte d'abolition de l'esclavage. Il entreprenait presque annuellement des guerres et libéra finalement le Royaume du tribut d'Oyo. Il donna la permission aux catholiques de bâtir une cathédrale au centre ville. Au retour d'une guerre avec de lourdes pertes il trouva la mort.

The Palace of King Guezo
King Guezo (1818-1858) is considered a great reformer. He reorganized the structures of the state and the army, worked for the unification of the Kingdom, and especially developed palm oil production in the context of the abolition of slavery. He started various wars and finally liberated the Kingdom of Oyo's tribute. He gave permission to the Catholics to build a cathedral in the city center. On his return from a war with heavy losses, he was killed.
