1. Powell General Store Marker
Inscription. Located on the NE corner of SR 203 and Radnor Rd, the Powell General Store was established by Welsh immigrants Robert and Ann Powell. They immigrated from Wales to Randnor in 1842 with their children John and Margaretta. The store and attached home were erected on this site before 1845. In 1866, the store was advertised as "R Powell and Son, Dealers in Dry Goods and Groceries." As Robert aged, John managed the store with the help of William Harmon, Postmaster of the Post Office located in the store. John ran the store for a few years after his father died in 1872, but by 1900 it was out of the Powell Family. Others later operating the store included E I Jones, D R Thomas and Owen Jones until it was destroyed by fire on Sept 19, 1928.
